Apply for a Tax-Exempt Customer Account

Chitown Trendz welcomes applications from qualifying resellers, schools, nonprofit organizations, government entities, and other eligible organizations. Submit your documentation for review so we can determine whether a sales-tax exemption applies to your purchases.

Before You Apply

  • Sign in to your Chitown Trendz customer account, or create an account using the email address you use to place orders.
  • Have your legal business or organization name, mailing address, applicable exemption number, and state ready.
  • Prepare a clear, complete copy of your tax-exemption certificate, resale certificate, or official exemption letter.

Submit Your Certificate

Complete the application form on this page and upload your supporting document. PDF or accepted image formats are supported. Please ensure the organization name and exemption details are legible.

What Happens After Submission?

  1. Application received: We review the business information and uploaded document.
  2. Verification: We may contact you if more information or a revised certificate is required.
  3. Approval notice: We will let you know whether the application has been approved or additional information is needed.
  4. Eligible purchases: Approved exemptions are applied to the corresponding Shopify customer account where permitted by law.

Information for Illinois Applicants

For purchases intended for resale, an Illinois Certificate of Resale (Form CRT-61) or other qualifying resale documentation may be required. Qualifying Illinois tax-exempt organizations should provide documentation of their Illinois exemption (E-number). A federal 501(c)(3) determination by itself does not establish an Illinois sales-tax exemption.

Important Terms

Submission does not guarantee approval and does not automatically remove sales tax. Sales tax remains applicable until verification and approval. Resale exemptions only apply to eligible resale purchases; items bought for personal use or other taxable purposes are not automatically exempt. We may request revised or updated documentation as necessary.
